In 1987, the World Commission on Environment and Development developed a definition of sustainability that was included in its findings, which became known as the Brundtland Report. It stated that; ‘Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’.
Renewable generation fits the accepted definition of sustainability, in that green heat and power produced by renewable generation technologies are genuinely sustainable as they do not compromise the ecological balance for future generations.
It is almost inconceivable now to think of a future generation mix that does not include both renewable and low carbon technology, and as fossil fuels continue to become scarcer the balance of financial viability will move firmly towards renewables.
At Square One Utilities we have the knowledge to guide clients through the available technologies, and to provide advice as to which technologies are appropriate for their site, as well as provide assistance from specification through to project management of the installation process.
