Neil Middleton

Neil has a successful track record in the management of an energy supply business and the negotiation and pricing of energy supply contracts.

Neil graduated from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne with a first class honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Formerly an apprentice at NEI Parsons Ltd, Neil joined Northern Electric in 1987.

Initially working within the energy industry privatisation team Neil developed the systems and skills required to manage customer pricing and quotations within the emerging competitive energy markets. As Senior Energy Pricing Manager he headed a series of successful teams responsible for quoting electricity and gas prices to all businesses and domestic customers. Neil further gained considerable experience negotiating supply contracts with a series of large and multi-site customers.

Having successfully implemented new pricing and quotation systems, Neil took on the challenging role of Energy Purchasing Manager with the responsibility for the effective negotiation and management of over £400 million of gas and electricity purchases. Neil and his teams developed strategies and systems that secured competitively priced physical and financial energy contracts, limited financial risk in volatile energy markets and secured Northern Electric as a leading player in the energy supply market.

Having occupied a series of increasingly senior roles within Northern Electric Neil was ultimately appointed as Managing Director of Northern Electric Supply in 1999.

When Northern Electric was acquired by npower Neil took on the role of Commercial Director for CE Electric UK Ltd. He was appointed as a main Board Director of Teesside Power Ltd and worked on a series of business acquisition and sale projects.

Neil is now an established industry expert and acts as a business consultant specialising in contract negotiations and energy industry consultancy.
