Alison Thomson - Billing & Customer Service


Alison brings a wealth of experience in the areas of billing and customer service to the Square One team. During her 14 years at Northern Electric and npower she was responsible for the billing of utility accounts with a revenue value of over £30 million per month.

In addition to controlling the scheduling and work flows of the industrial and commercial billing department she also personally resolved the most complex of any invoicing disputes including where necessary, liaising with the customer and the Energy Regulator.

Alison has a somewhat unique prospective on supply industry systems and issues, having been responsible for implementing end to end processes to invoice some of the UK’s largest energy users (including Marks & Spencer, Alcan, British Sugar and Sainsbury’s), many of which have highly complex billing structures.

She has first hand experience of the problems that occurred covering the period from when the market first opened to competition right through to when major migrations between systems have taken place as a result of mergers and acquisitions. It is this broad industry knowledge and experience which not only enables Alison to quickly identify and resolve billing errors and disputes, but also to ensure that accounts are managed in such a way as to avoid problems from ever occurring.
