68% of employees want to be more energy efficient at work

Over half of UK employees have stated that they want to be more energy efficient at work. With the leisure and hospitality industry’s scoring the highest with 82% of their employees wanting to save energy while at work.

Over 60% of the workers that were surveyed stated that their business had invested in energy efficiency, whether it be lights that switch off as people leave a room, monitors that switch off instead of going into standby or more expensive investments such as solar PV panels. Almost 50% also stated that their company conducts regular energy efficiency audits either in-house or with the help of an external business energy consultant.

This is positive news with such a high proportion of people saying their companies are already taking steps to become more energy efficient. However with 40% of people surveyed saying their companies aren’t doing anything to become more energy efficient, there is still a lot of work to do.
